SKID ROW Frontman Recounts Sharing Men's Room With KISS' PAUL STANLEY

A brand new interview with SKID ROW frontman Johnny Solinger has been posted online via the group's official web site at this location.

When asked by the interviewer for the "funniest story" he's ever told, Solinger recounted an experience from the band's tour with KISS in 2000 in which he happened to find himself sharing a men's room with KISS frontman Paul Stanley.

"[While on tour with KISS] in Denver, Colorado. I had just gotten off stage and had to use the men's room," he said. "I'm at the urinal when Paul Stanley, in full makeup and costume, walks up to the urinal beside me. The bathroom is empty, but he picks the one next to mine. As I zip up he looks over my shoulder and says 'Nice dick,' sarcastically snickers and walks away. True story."

During the same interrogation, Solinger talks about what he has brought to the band and how the group's sound has changed since he joined the fold.

"I personally can't listen to the old SKID ROW records now," Solinger revealed. "It must be a territorial thing. The way that I do the older material has changed over the last couple of years. I started out doing it basically how it was recorded, but that didn't work for me. I just wasn't getting anything out of it. Then I changed it all up and did it wacky and way different. That didn't work either. I finally settled into the material and made it as much mine as I possibly could. I give the fans the notes and screams that they expect and want, and I mix a whole lotta me in there with it. I actually love singing these songs more than ever now. I think that they've never sounded better.

With regards to SKID ROW's forthcoming studio album, the long-awaited "ThickSkin", Solinger stated, "The reason that I took this whole thing on was to make new music with proven songwriters. To make my mark with a great band. The new material has exceeded my expectations. These songs were masterfully created with emotion, and real desire to be great. This collection of songs will put SKID ROW's past in perspective, and future in place. It will show the fans why this band had to be re-born. We have something to say, and know how we want to say it. It's the best SKID ROW album yet. Do I sound proud? I am."

SKID ROW are currently shopping "ThickSkin" for a label deal following their split with Atlantic Records. An early 2003 release is expected.
